Job Summary: Provides assistance and protection to persons and property at Hunterdon Medical Center. Ensures Medical Center regulations and procedures are followed and takes appropriate action to ensure the safety of all. Essential Responsibilities: Security Officers are responsible for securing and unsecuring the facility, morgue storage and discharge, patrolling the interior and exterior of the facility, providing security escorts, security incident response/reporting, liaison with local police/fire/and emergency response crews, and provide safety and security assistance to patients/visitors and staff. Experience: High School diploma required. One year of experience as a security officer, preferably in a healthcare setting or an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice preferred. Education/experience in a related field: law enforcement, corrections, military corrections, preferred. License, Registry or Certification: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. Restraint Certification, CPR/AED, Crisis Prevention/Deescalation, Incident Command Certification (FEMA), and Hazardous Materials Operations Level, Personal Protective Equipment, and Chemical, Biological, Radiological,, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Certifications. Completion International Association of Healthcare Safety & Security Basic Certification Program within 60 days of employment. CPI training is required, and must be renewed annually. If not certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 3 months. Special Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Good verbal skills, ability to interact with all levels of people, ability to defuse hostile situations, and must be free of mental and physical problems that might impair performance or endanger health and safety of others. Must be able to tolerate verbal and/or physical provocation from patients. Must be able to operate a manual transmission powered motor vehicle and to operate in extremely dangerous road conditions. Must have a valid drivers license. Desired or Preferred Knowledge, Skills and/or Ability: Computer skills; experience with CCTV, Access Control, and Alarm systems
