The Toms River Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) is seeking a reliable and motivated Part-time Maintenance Worker to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our downtown area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. General Maintenance:
o Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning sidewalks, emptying trash receptacles, and maintaining public areas.
o Ensure public facilities (restrooms, benches, signage) are clean and in good condition.
o Assist in setting up and dismantling equipment for events and activities as needed.
2. Landscaping and Beautification:
o Maintain planters, flower beds, and green spaces by watering, weeding, and trimming as necessary.
o Seasonal tasks such as leaf removal and snow clearing to ensure safe pedestrian access.
3. Event Support:
o Provide logistical support during community events and festivals organized by the BID.
o Assist with setting up booths, stages, and decorations according to event plans.
o Maintain cleanliness and orderliness during events to ensure a positive visitor experience.
4. Reporting and Communication:
o Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or repairs needed to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
o Communicate effectively with other team members and event organizers to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, or a related field preferred.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, especially during peak event seasons.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Have and maintain a valid NJ Drivers License (provide a three-year abstract).
