Medical Assistant, CardiologyReq #:46417Category:Medical AssistantStatus:Full-TimeShift:DayFacility:RWJ RahwayDepartment:CardiologyLocation:RWJUH Rahway Hospital, 865 Stone Street, Rahway, NJ 07065Job Overview:The Medical Assistant will provide support to the clinical staff by assisting with patient visits including directing patient flow in and out of the exam rooms, taking patient vital signs and communicating with clinical staff about patient readiness for visit. The Medical Assistant will also maintain stock in exam rooms, work with administrative staff to ensure supplies are maintained and ordered as needed, and assist with administrative staff as necessary to meet patient needs.Qualifications:Required:
Medical Assistant or Patient Care Tech training
Knowledge of medical terminology, registration, coding, and experience with customer service and medical office responsibilities
Certifications and Licenses Required:
Medical Assistant Certification

Essential Functions:
Inputs data as needed or directed and accurately
Interacts with patients and handles patient inquiries in a professional manner
Responds to inquiry or passes to the appropriate staff member for follow up
Prepares and maintains patient medical records in a neat and orderly manner according to department protocol
Takes patient vital signs and documents in patient records
Travels to other sites as required
Transports medications to and from the pharmacy
