Job Title: Research Chemist - Mass SpectrometryJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Research Chemist specializing in Mass Spectrometry to join our team. The successful candidate will develop and validate analytical methods, troubleshoot problems, and communicate with clients to provide project updates. This role requires significant experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and the ability to lead and direct the work of others.Responsibilities
Plan, perform, and complete more complex projects
Develop and validate analytical methods
Assist with project cost estimates
Review analyses and documentation on completed projects
Write technical reports
Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technology
Troubleshoot problems and perform investigations when necessary
Communicate with clients to address questions and provide project updates
Prepare bill memos
Apply a wide variety of concepts, practices, procedures, and regulations
Use creativity and judgment to accomplish goals
Lead and direct the work of others
Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned
Essential Skills
Experience with and knowledge of GC/MS and LC/MS
Proficiency in either LCMS or GCMS
Detailed interpretation of spectral data
Development of mass spectrometry-based methods
Experience with sample preparation to perform analytical methods and solve analytical problems
Experience developing and performing trace level analysis for targeted and non-targeted techniques
Chemical structure determination from LC/MS and GC/MS data interpretation
Excellent organization, multitasking, project management, and communication skills
Teamwork ability to integrate expertise into multi-technique solutions
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including data interpretation/analysis
Ability to generate client reports and supporting documentation
Strong computer skills (Windows, MS Office, data acquisition software)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Understanding of extractable and leachable study performance is preferred
Trace level method validation experience is preferred
BS in Chemistry or related degree + 10 years of mass spectrometry focused work experience
MS in Chemistry or related degree + 5 years of mass spectrometry focused work experience
PhD in Chemistry or related degree with mass spectrometry focused experience
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
