The Assistant Innkeeper is responsible for daily aspects of the bed & breakfast, including guest experience, front office, guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage service. The Assistant Innkeeper provides guest support & relations, leads and assists staff, and utilizes Inn’s technology. This position reports to the General Manager and will likely evolve with time.
Essential Duties:
Collaboratively work with the General Manager, Innkeeper and hospitality team to execute and improve Inn’s daily operations and guests’ experience.
Assist Innkeeper, Housekeepers, Cooks, and Handyman to ensure effective execution of duties in support of business goals, delivering exceptional guest experience, and facilitating the highest standards of cleanliness and facility condition. Provide guidance on employee’s working.
Effectively utilize Inn’s inventories while controlling OS&E, Food and labor costs. Purchase food and guest supplies as needed.
Assist and ensure culinary and front of Inn operations and service delivery. May plan menus that meet guest’s dietary preferences, prepare, cook, and serve breakfast to guests. Bake & prepare afternoon treats and prepare and clean-up evening guest reception.
Communicate with guests before, during and after their stay. Greet and check-in guests, anticipate and respond to guests’ needs, and ensure a high level of guest experience, communication & satisfaction.
Answer telephones & emails regarding bookings, answer potential guest’s questions and maintain Inn’s online reservation & guest management system. Process payments via telephone or in-person.
Assist guest in planning and executing special events, meetings, weddings, whole-house bookings. Set up and support special receptions and events. Perform wedding officiant duties for weddings, elopements, and renewals.
Work with Innkeeper and General Manager to develop effective social media marketing and advertising. Develop and post to social media outlets in support of maintaining and developing ongoing guest relationships.
Respond to urgent property, guest safety, technology or other business issues to maintain operations and service delivery.
Establish and maintain a positive workplace culture.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications:
Pleasant demeanor, developed communication and guest service skills.
Serve Safe and New Mexico Alcohol server training preferred.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to cook, bake, and engage with guests.
Must be thorough with strong attention to detail.
Must be able to multi-task, take initiative and solve problems.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand and move most of the day.
Must have proper documentation to work in the US.
Previous hospitality experience preferred.
Proficient in English and Spanish language is helpful.
Full-Time Position: Up to 40 hours each week possibly more if needed.
