Or an associate degree in accounting, auditing, and/or forensic accounting with three (3) years of experience in a business-related field, such as finance.Preferred skills for the position include: Ability to review, analyze, and summarize financial records. Ability to advise or assist in investigations of alleged misuse of campaign finance funds. Demonstrate ability to work on special projects as assigned by the Chief Enforcement Counsel. Duties Description The New York State Board of Elections Division of Election Law Enforcement (DELE) is seeking an investigative auditor for its Albany office. The Investigative Auditor is responsible for conducting forensic audits and systemic reviews. In conjunction with Associate Counsels and Investigators, the Investigative Auditor works collaboratively to investigate the allegations and report the findings.DELE is responsible for protecting the integrity of the New York State election process by providing transparency and fair enforcement of all elections and campaign finance laws under its jurisdiction. It is tasked with investigating allegations and gathering evidence to determine the proper disposition of complaints alleging violations of the NYS Election Law. The investigative auditor, reporting to the Chief Enforcement Counsel, is responsible for various assigned duties and responsibilities, and include but not limited to: Conduct comprehensive reviews of campaign financial disclosure filings by political committees and candidates based on criteria established by the Chief Enforcement Counsel. Audit financial records of political committees and candidates as necessary to effectuate a complete and thorough assessment of compliance with NYS Election Law and Regulations. Assist the Chief Enforcement Counsel, Associate Counsel, and Investigators in analyzing and reviewing campaign financial disclosure reports relative to investigations of violations of statutes governing political campaigns, elections, and related procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of campaign finance and enforcement projects. Assist in the development of policy recommendations in the area of campaign finance. Assist with all tasks and matters assigned by the Chief Enforcement Counsel.
