Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the healthcare industry, specifically within hospitals and social assistance sector in New Hyde Park, New York. We are seeking an Assistant Controller who will be instrumental in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role will demand an individual with a strong understanding of healthcare finance, tax planning, and compliance, along with proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and Excel.Responsibilities: Assist in managing financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, budget planning, and payroll. Use public and private sector experience to deliver comprehensive financial reporting. Apply extensive tax knowledge in tax planning and compliance, multi-state taxation, and tax research. Oversee the revenue recognition processes, ensuring adherence to applicable standards and regulations. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of healthcare finance, including medical billing, insurance operations, and regulatory compliance. Display proficiency in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, including data management, financial planning, and supply chain operations. Show exceptional Excel skills, with the ability to handle complex calculations, pivot tables, macros, and advanced spreadsheet functions. Work closely with the controller to identify and implement opportunities for operational improvements. Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements according to GAAP. Leverage CPA credentials to ensure accurate and ethical financial practices, and to stay abreast of ongoing changes and updates in accounting practices and tax laws.Requirements Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required Demonstrated ability to manage all Accounting Functions Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Prior experience in Auditing is mandatory Must be able to manage Billing Functions Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is a plus Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation Experience in the Healthcare, Hospitals, or Social Assistance industry is preferred but not mandatory Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office programs Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding accounting, finances, and taxation.
