Job DescriptionThe Pension Payroll unit is responsible for issuing over 56,000 payments each month to retirees/beneficiaries in addition to handling bank and address changes and federal tax withholding. Under the supervision of the Director of the Pension Payroll Unit, this candidate will be responsible for performing work as described below. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Process requested changes into the Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS);

Calculate and process withholdings for W4-P tax withholding forms;

Performs data entry of newly retired members into the PPMS database;

Performs responsible clerical and related activities such as typing and prooing letters containing pension payroll information to retirees and their beneficiaries;

Calculate finalizations for retired members based on actuary reports;

Courteously and promptly answers calls utilizing appropriate agency protocol. Gives information in an accurate, informative, and concise manner and refers calls to appropriate individual when necessary;

Respond to in-person inquiries accurately in a courteous and prompt manner and when appropriate, refer inquiries to other members of the agency;

Work on special projects as designated by Unit Supervisor.
