SUPERVISOR – DIESEL TECHNICIAN (Brooklyn, NY)
Starting Pay: $30–$35/hr. (based on experience and credentials)
Shifts Available:
Morning: 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Night: 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM
About the Role:
The Shift Supervisor oversees safe execution of maintenance operations for NYC Ferry’s Marine Engineering department at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This role requires marine mechanical and electrical experience and ensures the fleet is properly maintained.
Job Duties:
Accept tasks from Port Engineer and plan/implement execution
Perform maintenance onboard vessels, including motor overhauls, AC/DC electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulic steering system work
Ensure safety during all tasks
Issue and track company tools for technicians
Ensure warranty procedures and shift paperwork are completed accurately
Communicate vessel information to supervisors and management
Use approved Hazmat for paints, solvents, and cleaning agents
Perform cleaning, custodial tasks, and minor engineering repairs
Assist with fueling, water filling, and shore power connections
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
Keep vessels inspection-ready
Complete all documentation accurately
Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
High School Diploma
Valid TWIC Card (or ability to obtain if hired)
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to obtain if hired)
Valid Driver’s License
Marine mechanical and electrical experience highly desired
Experience supervising maintenance shifts is preferred
Competence with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
DIESEL TECHNICIAN (Brooklyn, NY – NYC Ferry)

Use approved Hazmat for paints, solvents, and cleaning agents
