Description: This position is located in the Guilford County Extension Center and provides specialized program support and technical skills to the Family and Consumer Science Agent and program assistants funded through N.C. A&T State University in the area of family education for limited resource families in Guilford County. Consistent with the philosophy, policy and overall mission, goals, and educational objectives of North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Family and Consumer Sciences educational programs strive to improve the health and welfare of limited resource families through practical lessons in nutrition, food safety, parenting, human development, aging, housing, community & volunteer development, health, disaster recovery support, environmental safety in the home, energy conservation, and family resource management. Tasks include providing knowledgeable and focused customer service, marketing, event scheduling, expense reporting, and instructional assistancePrimary Function of Organizational Unit: Cooperative Extension at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an educational outreach organization within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. Together with its partners – North Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed. In addition to campus operations, Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Family and Consumer Science personnel with the NC Cooperative Extension Service work across the spectrum of family needs.
