In this role, the leader will provide strategic direction around benefit design, member engagement, clinical quality performance and organizational capacity building. This leader strives to build health equity as a core competency through collaboration with leaders across the enterprise, engages as a thought leader externally on Humana’s behalf, informs and leads the development of health equity and SDOH related programs, and oversees the creation of member-facing materials which promote health equity as a component of improving overall health outcomes.Key Responsibilities

Serves as the health equity and SDOH expert for the enterprise. Collaborates with key partners across enterprise to co-develop and drive the strategy that brings a health equity lens to all member-facing programs, communications and education across all lines of business

Responsible for building relationships that ensure a connection to broader Humana

Leads a diverse team of associates to support multiple lines of business in achieving strategic results through use of data and analytics focused on health disparities and SDOH. Works to build health equity related resources to promote integration of health equity principles within member facing products.

Develops community engagement strategies in support of strategic business needs

Develops approach to improving cultural competency for our member-facing and clinical associates, with a goal of reducing implicit bias and better engaging members

Develops the strategy to build competency around health literacy for member-facing and clinical associates with a focus on member-facing communications

Translates strategies into actionable solutions and plans for execution in collaboration with key partners / stakeholders

Works with Corporate Affairs to advise on legislative and regulatory changes which reduce health inequities and improve health outcomes at the federal and state levels

Provides subject matter content on health equity to internal committees, workgroups or groups where representation is needed

Serves as the primary external- facing expert on Health Equity and SDOH for Humana through collaboration with external stakeholders, publications and social media

Provides team with day-to-day leadership to drive progress and alignment for initiatives (ie: determines key metrics and progress milestones to track against)

Responsible for planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and meeting department budget targets

Use your skills to make an impactKey Qualifications

Advanced degree such as MBA, MPH, MD or Ph.D

Subject matter expertise in Health Equity. At least 7 years of Academic, public or private sector experience working in health equity. Must demonstrate academic research and publications on health equity or job experience specifically focused on reducing health disparities or substantial work with community or other organizations focused on health equity and/or social determinants of health

Experience leading teams in developing strategy then executing to drive results with specific deliverables and timelines

Demonstrated record of execution and delivering results in support of business partners or other stakeholders

Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome.

Current or recent experience in a complex, highly matrixed company, with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment

Work experience with a public or private payer, or in a role with an organization that includes substantial interfacing or collaborating with payers (e.g. provider organization, consultant)

Excellent oral and written communications skills (including the polish, poise, and executive presence) that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences, both internally and externally through public speaking engagements,

Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it to back to the team in a digestible format

Preferred Qualifications

Formal research or analytics training or 5 or more years of work experience overseeing the development and use of analytic insights, BI dashboards, research and evidence.

Work experience with a payer with Medicare Advantage and Medicaid lines of business.

Experience with Medicaid at the state level either directly or indirectly.
