I'm looking for a patient, kind-hearted person to help my husband, who has suffered a stroke. He needs to engage in speech and PT exercises, plus friendly conversation, to slow the progress of his mental and physical decline. He would benefit from help for an hour, two or three times a week, mornings preferred.
This job would require helping him with simple word retrieval exercises and a few PT exercises. He is very alert, but has Aphasia, so cannot find words to form sentences. Practicing finding words with simple, repetitive exercises, will help him function better. He is 80, and though in very good physical condition from being a life-long athete, he is losing his balance at times, so to avoid a fall he must keep up the strength in his legs.
We are in the Enchanted Oaks subdivision, off Penny and Lake Wheeler Roads in SW Raleigh, abut 8 miles from downtown, Crossroads/Cary & Garner.
