The following locations will also be considered: Cincinnati , OH, Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, and Peoria, IL . Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.Provides technical assistance and guidance for due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, and environmental permitting projects. Tasks may include assisting with the development of processes and infrastructure relating to water supply, hazardous or solid waste disposal, air emission sources, pollution control, and preserving the quality of the environment by averting the contamination and degradation of air, water, and land resources. Generates accurate and concise reports and documentation regarding field conditions, and assessing and advising on the short- and long-term risks to ecological and human health. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.Your Impact
Collect, identify, and compile environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
Perform professional environmental engineering work and assist with conducting investigations and inspections of air emission sources, hazardous or solid waste facilities, water supply facilities, industrial and agricultural facilities, pollution sources and proposed and existing site conditions, water resources, and underground storage tanks to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
Verify the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on various environmental issues.
Research environmental hazmat databases regarding historical property land uses.
Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to prevent, control, restore, clean-up, or address environmental issues or problems.
Conduct environmental studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular environmental problem or issue and/or to plan for future environmental needs.
Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of environmental data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level threat mitigation activities.
Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You AreRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, Sanitary, Chemical, Industrial, Agricultural, or Public Health Engineering, or closely related discipline.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in environmental engineering.
Engineer in Training Certification.
Knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods and their application to environmental and project work-related issues.
Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
Knowledge with the concepts of reducing and eliminating the use or generation of hazardous substances, processes, or products., and mitigation programs.
Knowledge of the techniques used in identifying, measuring, sampling and studying environmental control.
Knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, math principles, predictive models, and tools.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Engineering.
Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
