Description Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist for an exciting contract to permanent opportunity. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our payroll and financial operations during a specified engagement. Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Accurately calculate and process payroll for employees, including salary, hourly, and contract workers, in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Timekeeping Management: Oversee the time and attendance system, ensuring accurate recording of hours worked, overtime, and time off. Payroll Deductions: Deduct and process payroll deductions, including taxes, insurance, retirement contributions, and other withholdings. Employee Data Maintenance: Update and maintain employee records in the payroll system, including personal information, tax withholding details, and direct deposit information. Payroll Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll reports, ensuring that the payroll register matches the general ledger and resolves discrepancies promptly. Payroll Tax Compliance: Calculate, withhold, and report payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Payroll Reporting: Generate payroll reports and statements, including pay stubs, W-2s, and other earnings statements. Direct Deposit and Check Distribution: Coordinate direct deposit and paper check distribution to employees on payday. Payroll Inquiries: Address employee inquiries related to payroll, including pay discrepancies and tax matters. Audit Assistance: Provide support during internal and external payroll audits, preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements to improve the efficiency and accuracy of payroll operations. Requirements Requirements: Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional coursework or certifications in payroll, accounting, or related fields are a plus. Experience: At least 2 years of experience in payroll processing and administration. Prior experience as a Payroll Specialist is advantageous. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, etc.) and experience with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets). Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of payroll calculations and records. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet payroll deadlines. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills for detail oriented interaction with employees, team members, and management. Tax Knowledge: Familiarity with payroll tax regulations, withholding requirements, and tax reporting. Integrity: Demonstrates high ethical standards and handles sensitive payroll and employee information with confidentiality. Team Player: Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams and contributes positively to the team's success.
