Piano Teacher at Established Music School

Vesper School of Music is hiring a part-time piano teacher 2-4 days per week for in-person instruction at our SE Belmont location. Established in 2013, Vesper School of Music is well known as one of Portland's top music schools and features an innovative and community focused work environment.

Responsibilities:

Teach private piano lessons to students age 5-adult in a way that resonates with each student, focusing on musicality, technique, music literacy, tone, and artistry. Be fluent in teaching a variety of musical styles and techniques.

Use the Vesper School of Music curriculum and teaching approach to tailor lesson plans to each student.

Clearly communicate weekly practice assignments to students.

Arrange or compose music for students if necessary.

Prepare students for recitals and performances. We hold two formal recitals and multiple performance opportunities each year.

Communicate with students and/or parents via email about lesson questions.

This position features competitive W-2 pay, benefits including paid sick leave, a 1% employer 401(k) match, and cell phone reimbursement, as well as paid opportunities for professional development. Lesson prep time, teacher training, and event attendance are are all paid at a separate rate from teaching hours.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of private music teaching experience with children and adults. Although at least a bachelors degree in music is preferred, alternative professional backgrounds will be considered for this role.
