THE POSITIONThis Bilingual Case Manager position in the Juvenile Forensic Unit (S.P.O.R.E.) serves as a forensic caseworker and is responsible for supervision and case management of mentally ill and/or intellectually disabled individuals involved in the juvenile justice system. This is a highly responsible supportive counseling/forensic case management position dealing with mentally ill and/or intellectually disabled juvenile offenders. The work involves the ability to relate to individuals and families with special needs. The Bilingual SPORE Caseworker will provide casework and counseling services to aid individuals and families in order to achieve successful completion of community supervision. The work is performed with considerable independence, thought, and judgement while under the direction of a clinical supervisor. This is accomplished through weekly individual conferences, treatment team meetings, and clinical staffing with a licensed psychiatrist and/or psychologist.The Bilingual SPORE Caseworker functions in a team with designated juvenile probation officers to determine the least intrusive and least restrictive treatment methods that can be employed in providing the treatment necessary for juvenile offenders to reduce and eliminate impairing, harmful, and destructive symptoms and behaviors and provide protection for the community. This ideal is consistent with CASSP (Child and Adolescent Service System Program) principles. The Bilingual SPORE Caseworker also performs any other duties as assigned by the employee's immediate supervisor, Administrator, Chief of Juvenile Probation and/or their designee.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

On occasion, may have to work non-traditional or extended hours with the designated Juvenile Probation Officer for curfew checks, meetings, court appearances, or in the event of an emergency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or

Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or

A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or

A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Bucks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, and Schuylkill counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

This position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish. You may be contacted for a Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. If contacted, you must pass the speaking evaluation in order to be deemed eligible for this position. Your proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to chieve regular status in the position.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements:You must pass a background investigation.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.

Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
