THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is currently on the lookout for a Maintenance Repairman 2 to take on a role that involves carrying out a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, bridges, and equipment. This position requires a high level of proficiency in multiple trades, as well as the ability to work independently when it comes to deciding on the best methods and procedures for completing tasks. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all essential infrastructure and equipment are kept in optimal working condition, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the department's operations.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The role involves utilizing your expertise to mend a wide range of building components, including roofs, doors, furniture, and constructing temporary partitions. You will also be responsible for operating both power and hand tools to carry out assigned carpentry tasks, as well as painting the interior and exterior of buildings. Additionally, the position entails performing masonry work on buildings, foundations, walks, and walls, and installing and maintaining plumbing fixtures and drainage systems.Furthermore, you will be tasked with installing electric circuits, wall receptacles, switches, and lighting fixtures, as well as conducting diagnostic testing and repairing electrical equipment and systems. The role also involves welding and brazing metals using arc and acetylene welders, and erecting steel for construction purposes. Additionally, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs on bridge structures, such as building forms, finishing concrete, and welding steel components by interpreting and following blueprints.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Hours may vary based on seasonal operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
