Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob DescriptionResponsible for processing prescriptions through the pharmacy system, including adjudication of claims to third-party insurance plans on patient care units. Assist with filling medication orders accurately and in a timely manner, collect medication histories as part of the medication reconciliation process, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds. The DDP Technician facilitates the delivery of medications to patients and their families in hospital and clinic settings, coordinates payments, and communicates issues to the pharmacist and the Prior Authorization Team as needed. Excellent communication skills are required for interacting with patients and their families via telephone and/or in person. Additional responsibilities include participation in service line meetings as required, inventory management, processing co-pay cards issued by drug company programs for eligible patients, and completing prior authorizations according to the volume on the assigned unit. The successful candidate will be conscientious and focused on all patient needs relative to the discharge medication process.Responsibilities

Process prescriptions through the pharmacy system, including adjudication of claims to third-party insurance plans.

Assist with filling medication orders accurately and in a timely manner.

Collect medication histories as part of the medication reconciliation process.

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds.

Facilitate the delivery of medications to patients and their families in hospital and clinic settings.

Coordinate payments and communicate issues to the pharmacist and the Prior Authorization Team as needed.

Interact with patients and their families via telephone and/or in person with excellent communication skills.

Participate in service line meetings as required.

Manage inventory, process co-pay cards issued by drug company programs for eligible patients.

Complete prior authorizations according to the volume on the assigned unit.

Communicate with multiple providers, insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and manage other aspects of discharge medication management.

Perform all roles of a normal technician, including production, prescription processing, and delivery.

Essential Skills

Retail pharmacy experience

Pharmacy knowledge

Data entry proficiency

2+ years of experience required

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) certification required

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience as a lead tech, specialty pharmacy, or prior authorizations

Strong communication skills

Work EnvironmentWork in a hospital and clinic setting. Interact directly with patients and their families. Collaborate with multiple providers, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies.
