The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Chester is seeking an energetic and dedicated Utility Plant Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the operation of steam boilers, heating boilers, chilled water systems, cooling towers, and standby generators. DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will oversee an inmate work crew while handling tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of a boiler plant. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the efficient operation of gas and oil boilers under both normal and emergency conditions, using both manual and automatic control systems. You will interpret visual and aural gauges, meters, and sensing devices, perform both routine and non-routine maintenance, and conduct operational assessments. Additionally, you will clean and maintain equipment, make minor repairs to ensure proper functionality, and operate and maintain auxiliary equipment. You will work independently to analyze problems and implement effective solutions. Interested in learning more? Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
Work hours are to be determined, based upon operational needs. Shifts include 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
