Description We are seeking an Assistant Controller for a permanent placement opportunity in Spartanburg!This role supports the Controller in managing the Financial Accounting Department, ensuring accurate closings, compliance with GAAP, and timely financial reporting.Key duties include reviewing reconciliations, overseeing variance analyses, and improving departmental processes and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have their CPA and one year of managerial experience.Responsibilities

Leadership: Supports the Controller in directing and managing the Financial Accounting Department, ensuring departmental efficiency and accuracy.

Financial Oversight: Manages monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and audits, following GAAP and company policies.

Review & Analysis: Reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly variance analyses to ensure accurate reporting and explanations for material changes.

Compliance & Reporting: Ensures timely and accurate internal and external financial reporting, including financial statements, state accounting reports, and employee savings plan administration.

Process Improvement: Evaluates and improves departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls, providing staff training as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting

CPA or prepared to sit for CPA

3 - 5 years experience in accounting and one year managing staff.
