The Diabetic Educator is responsible for following the guidelines from the American Diabetes Association criteria and evidence based practice guidelines.Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist or BC-ADM credential preferred/eligible. If not already DCES or BC-ADM will sit for the certification examination within 24 months of hire date.

Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Part B - PREFERRED

Diabetes self-management education and support experience - PREFERRED

QualificationsRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Dietetics, Nutrition and/or PharmacyRequired Licensure and Certifications

Registered Nurse

Certified Diabetes Educator – CDE within 24 months

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Basic computer skills

Has working knowledge of diabetes technology

Highly organized and strong attention to detail

Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

Must be able to work with a diverse patient population and have exceptional customer service skills
