Overview
The Communications Associate is responsible for developing, with Grace-St. Luke’s leadership, the branding and key messages for Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, as well as their implementation in all internal and external communications of the parish; supporting all church ministries in their development of messaging and its execution in electronic, print, and broadcast media; engaging communication professionals and a parish communications committee. All efforts are intended to invite parishioners and the wider community to experience the abundance of life at Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church: a community of hope, belonging, and healing.
Candidate Profile
Minimum of three years’ experience in professional marketing/communications and executive office spaces responsible for communications with internal and external customers
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram), and database management software tools
Competent in or fast learner about graphic and web design software programs (Adobe Creative Suite/mainly InDesign, Canva, WordPress), e-mail marketing (Mailchimp, Constant Contact), photography for visual communications to reflect parish vibrancy, and use of printers/copiers
Strong oral, written, copy-editing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Comfortable multitasking in a fluid/fast-paced office environment, adapts well to change
Journalism skills beneficial but not essential
Audio-visual equipment handling skill beneficial but not essential
General Duties
Collaborate with the Rector, Vestry Commissioner for Communications, and communications committee on the development and management of a strategic communication plan and brand
Create and manage all items necessary for weekly, monthly, and seasonal communications via parish website, weekly eNews, social media, bulletin boards, and signage (internal and external), quarterly/seasonal magazine, seasonal congregational life guide (program and events), hallway digital monitors, paper marketing materials (postcards, flyers, etc.) in campus public spaces, etc.
Initiate and sustain support of program and event campaigns including year-round stewardship
Collaborate with Staff, Clergy, Vestry Commissioner for Communications, and parish volunteers with professional communications experience to communicate effectively and efficiently
Manage external marketing and public relations opportunities including press releases, Google Ads, etc. and make recommendations for improvement to promote parish programs and events
Manage initiatives to maintain current photos, mobile numbers, and contact information in REALM (church management software) for efficient communication with and between parishioners
Provide occasional project management support to the Congregational Life Associate/Assistant to the Rector and the Vestry (lay leadership council)
