THE SOUTHERN GUAM SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT
SOLICITS APPLICATIONS TO ESTABLISH A LIST OF ELIGIBLES FOR THE
FOLLOWING LIMITED-TERM APPOINTMENT:
Position Title: Conservation Associate
Classification: Temporary, Part-time, 20 hours per week
Hourly Wage: $17.30 per hour
Location: Southern Guam Soil and Water Conservation District, Mangilao, Guam
About the Position
The Southern Guam Soil and Water Conservation District (SGSWCD) is seeking a Conservation
Associate to support its conservation efforts and community engagement initiatives. This parttime
position involves assisting with administrative tasks, coordinating outreach activities both
in-person and online, and helping to promote the district's programs and services through various
outreach tools, including social media platforms, events, and educational materials.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Communications, Environmental Science, Marketing, Business
Administration, or a related field; OR High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of
relevant experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in administrative support, outreach, or social media
management.
Experience coordinating events, managing projects, or working in a team-oriented
environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) and digital marketing
tools (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, etc.).
Basic understanding of website maintenance,
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to engage diverse audiences and work collaboratively with team members and
stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Environmental Science, Marketing, Business
Administration, or a related field.
Enthusiasm for agriculture, conservation, and the outdoors.
Knowledge of general administrative policies, procedures, and processes in higher
education
Illustrative Examples of Work
Provide administrative support to the District Administrator, including coordinating
meetings, preparing announcements, and maintaining records.
Draft and distribute correspondence, reports, and public notices.
Manage SGSWCD’s social media platforms, create and schedule posts, and track
engagement metrics.
Assist in organizing and promoting workshops, events, and community outreach
initiatives.
Support website updates and email marketing campaigns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
