Job DescriptionJoin Our Team as a Seafood Assistant Category Merchant at Whole Foods Market in Austin, TX! Are you passionate about seafood, sustainability, and the natural foods industry? Do you have a knack for data analysis, strategy development, and cross-functional collaboration? Whole Foods Market is looking for a Seafood Assistant Category Merchant to join our team in Austin, TX! As a Seafood Assistant Category Merchant, you will support our You’ll work on national brands, local products, and our private label offerings, contributing to our commitment to excellence. This role is based in our Austin, TX office. You will be required to work on-site for 3 days a week, with the option to work remotely for 2 days.What You’ll Do:

Support Category Strategies: Assist in planning and executing category strategies, including product development, pricing, and promotions.

Collaborate: Work closely with Inventory Planning , Merchandise Presentation and Execution, Operations, Enterprise Analytics, Marketing, and our Supplier and Distributor partners.

Financial Reporting: Participate in financial analysis and reporting, contributing to joint business performance accountability.

Data Management: Manage item data, support content creation, and assist with documentation and reporting.

Assortment Planning: With guidance, e ngage in supplier line reviews, assortment analysis, and forecasting.

Project Execution: Help t ranslate assortment plans into merchandising plans and assist with project execution.

Supplier Communication: Maintain supplier contacts and facilitate communication.

Category Vision: Help develop a customer-centric category vision that supports higher-level objectives and encompasses forward-looking insights.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education and Experience: BA/BS degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Detail-Oriented: Strong planning and execution skills with an eye for detail.

Team Player: Positive attitude and ability to work independently or in a group.

Stakeholder Management: Comfortable dealing with various stakeholders and maintaining confidentiality.

Passion for Natural Foods: Enthusiasm for Organics, Fair Trade, Quality Standards, and the Natural Foods industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Familiarity with retail software solutions and category management concepts preferred.

Analytical Curiosity: Ability to read financial reports, spot business trends, and understand underlying drivers of results.

Continuous Learning: Desire for ongoing learning and skill development.

Excellent Communicator: Strong written, verbal, and listening skills, with the ability to tailor communication to the audience.
