Provide strategic direction and environmental support to Chevron pipeline operations and projects in East Texas, including supporting environmental regulatory permitting, compliance, waste and water management, and regulatory and corporate reporting.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provide environmental support and leadership to Chevron pipeline operations and capital projects in East Texas, including pipeline design, construction, operations and decommissioning.
Provide technical guidance and direction on environmental matters including pipeline environmental permitting, rule implementation, and data management and reporting in the areas of air, GHG, water, waste and biodiversity and ecology.
Lead development of environmental permitting strategies and permit applications required for construction and operation of new pipelines in East Texas. Manage required environmental studies, including desktop reviews, field surveys, etc., to screen sensitive areas and implement avoidance or mitigation measures.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders (operations, engineering, land, legal, corporate affairs, etc.) to influence and inform project deliverables and provide routine updates to project management.
Engage externally with third-party consultants and regulatory agencies on permitting and compliance-related activities, and support regulatory reviews and advocacy efforts on new regulations.
Steward local implementation of Chevron’s internal environmental risk management process to ensure environmental risks are appropriately mitigated and safeguards in place.
Support incidents and spill response activities.
Partner with the Chevron New Energies organization to advance lower carbon initiatives and projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering or related field
Minimum 5 years experience supporting environmental regulatory permitting and compliance required. Experience with pipelines and large capital project development preferred.
Demonstrated ability to move projects through complex environmental regulatory and permitting requirements while addressing project cost and schedule implications.
Experienced analyzing environmental regulatory scenarios and implementing regulatory compliance programs for multiple media, including air, water, waste and biodiversity.
Strong technical knowledge in biodiversity and natural resources preferred, including experience developing complex environmental and ecological permitting strategies
Demonstrated ability to influence beyond function, at multiple organizational levels, to drive environmental objectives and improvements
Organizational skills to prioritize and maintain project and permitting requirements and documentation.
Experienced using digital tools to drive environmental performance and efficiency
Ability to travel to field locations 20% of time
