Description We are inviting applications for the role of an Assistant Controller based in Flower Mound, Texas. The role is central to maintaining the accuracy and standard of the company's accounting and financial processes, including the supervision of Accounting Specialists. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting and control, hence playing a significant part in the organization's financial health.With mentorship from the CFO, this is a great opportunity for someone to step into the role of Assistant Controller for the first time or for someone looking to further develop their skill set. Responsibilities: Supervise, direct, and review the accounts payable, accounts receivable, analysis, and cost accounting activities of the accounting team. Perform and understand all accounting functions including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Counsel, Accrual Accounting, and Revenue Recognition. Develop and oversee cross-training and professional development of direct reports. Prepare and coordinate timely monthly, quarterly, and annual internal and external financial statements ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee accounting and banking records, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Calculate and issue financial and operation metrics. Conduct day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, posting, and recording accounting data. Verify discrepancies and resolve account issues; serve as point of escalation for internal and external contacts. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, clients, and prospective clients. Participate in all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes and procedures; directing the completion of work and coordinating with the fractional CFO for compilation and production of financial statements. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings; ensures tax filings and payments are completed timely and accurately. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Compile data and complete annual insurance renewals; coordinating between executive leadership and brokers to ensure accurate coverage requirements are met and maintains records. Provide financial analysis, as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract terms. Manage and maintain accounting records in accordance with document retention policies.Requirements Candidate must possess a strong understanding of Accrual Accounting practices. Proficiency in GAAP Accounting is a crucial requirement for this role. Experience in managing Accounts Receivable (AR) processes is required. Thorough knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) processes is a must. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is necessary. Solid organizational skills and attention to detail are required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are needed for this position. Experience with financial software and Microsoft Office Suite is a plus. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Prior experience in a similar role or in the finance industry will be advantageous. Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is desirable. The ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously is necessary. Strong ethical standards and integrity in professional conduct is expected. Familiarity with financial regulations and standards is preferred. Excellent mathematical and computational skills are required. Strong leadership skills and the ability to oversee and guide a team is necessary.
