The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.JOB FUNCTIONSEssential FunctionsDevelop and execute short- and long-range strategic plans around special projects and research initiatives under the Breakthroughs Theme in support of the Institutional Strategy.Lead strategic scientific events and meetings with a local, regional, state-wide or national audience.Develop and oversee plans to maximize divisional operational efficiency and quality outcomes.In partnership with Institutional Affairs and Philanthropy, ensure engagement of internal key stakeholders.Develop annual event budget and ensure division operates within budget and in accordance with performance standards.Manage physical resources including space planning, inventory control and property maintenance as it relates to research events and special programs.Develop, implement and audit policies and operating procedures to ensure internal processes comply with institutional guidelines and regulatory agencies.Serve as a liaison between the Office of the CSO and Philanthropy, providing guidance on institutional research priorities.Responsible for human resource functions to include staffing, performance management and professional development of direct reports.Required for All Jobs Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards.EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field.Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field is a plus.EXPERIENCE:Required: Five years project/program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Preferred degree may substitute for two years of required experience.Preferred: Experience with managing events in the past-advisory boards or other large seminars. Strong focus on organizational skills and professional project management.
