With our combined resources, CommonSpirit is committed to building healthy communities, advocating for those who are poor and vulnerable, and innovating how and where healing can happen, both inside our hospitals and out in the community.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate the ability to provide quality patient care and perform procedures on patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric; demonstrate knowledge of the field of certification via competency compliance; perform nuclear medicine procedures as defined by department protocol, comply with regulatory requirements, Provide patient assessment, patient preparation, and work with other healthcare providers to provide accurate and timely diagnostic and therapeutic data; demonstrate continuous self-improvement, make effective contributions to the department and adhere to departmental policies and procedures; and be accountable for all applicable documentation relative to procedure performance and patient family education.

Interact with patients, guests and other hospital personnel in a friendly, responsive manner to insure that quality patient care is provided; provide accurate patient/family education concerning testing.

Perform imaging procedures as outlined in the nuclear medicine procedure manual. Examples of these procedures include the performance of planar, planar whole body, gated planar, SPECT, SPECT-CT, gated SPECT, and mobile studies

Perform computer acquisition and processing necessary for the display, analysis and interpretation of the patient’s condition

Participate in clinical education programs for the nuclear medicine personnel including training of nuclear medicine technologists, students, and house staff; as well as contributory involvement in staff in-services.

Order, prepare, receive, dispense and perform required regulatory and quality control procedures on radiopharmaceuticals; administer intravenous and oral radiopharmaceuticals under the guidelines established by the Chief of Service; and report immediately any irregularity or problem to the radiation safety officer and medical director

Perform quality control on all instrumentation in the nuclear medicine department, review data collected and report problems immediately to the supervisor or radiation safety officer

Perform dosage administration which includes intradermal, subcutaneous, peri-areolar, intramuscular, intravenous and oral and IV setup as outlined in hospital policy

Adherence to the rotational position methodology with a focus on punctuality.

Set up and perform EKG during pharmaceutical stress, exercise testing and emergency situations

Participate in on-call activities

Complete all computer and paperwork associated with the nuclear medicine procedure in an accurate and timely manner

Provide documentation, including electronic forms, that is accurate, legible and complete.

Assist with clerical duties during call and after hours to insure that all studies are completed and reported; assist with scheduling of in and out patients

Adhere to all policies and regulations regarding the safe handling, dispensing, monitoring and disposing of radioactive material

Keep current in all aspects of hospital required training

Maintain a safe and clean work area

Comply with all regulatory requirements at state and federal level.
