job detailsjob summary:A Incident Investigator is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Port Arthur, TX area. This position implements the safety management program by investigating ES&H incidents, monitoring field compliance, identifying trends, and collaborating with project leads to improve safety performance and ensure regulatory adherence.location: Port Arthur, Texasjob type: Contractsalary: $51.40 - 66.71 per hourwork hours: 8am to 5pmeducation: Bachelorsresponsibilities:
Support various ES&H disciplines to ensure compliance with ES&H standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual commitments.
Investigate and identify underlying causes, contributing factors, and corrective actions for complex ES&H incidents.
Assist with incident notifications, lead investigations, and prepare investigation reports.
Coach and assist field-level ES&H representatives in investigating and reporting low-level events.
Identify and correct performance trends impacting safety using statistical analysis and continuous improvement techniques.
Lead risk assessments, mitigation planning, and monitoring for ES&H issues.
Maintain ES&H databases, tracking incidents, audit findings, and corrective actions.
Prepare reports, documents, and communications for program execution and record-keeping.
Research complex ES&H issues, providing regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Recommend and implement process improvements to minimize hazards.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health programs for employee and environmental protection.
Support the use of software systems and electronic innovations for ES&H personnel.
Participate in and occasionally lead training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.
Provide support to ES&H field and office personnel across all ES&H disciplines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in ES&H, Management, or a related science/engineering field, with 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Certification in Root Cause Analysis (e.g., Tap Root, Apollo, Blue Dragon, or Six Sigma) is required.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Root Cause Analyst in a large construction, operating, or governmental organization.
strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to discuss safety issues with various stakeholders.
Working knowledge of ES&H best practices, including accident investigations, compliance audits, and health surveys.
Ability to work independently as a subject matter expert in Root Cause Analysis.
Demonstrated effectiveness in a complex, integrated organizational environment.
Knowledge of safety procedures, engineering and construction systems, and methodologies.
Experience in performance improvement or continuous improvement roles.
