This is a tenure-track position.The successful candidate will teach across the undergraduate and graduate curriculum using various adult learning techniques and technologies to present students with contemporary evidenced-based teaching practices. The candidate will establish a focused research agenda with a strong record of publication that reflects quality, impact, and significance, in addition to developing relationships with departmental and University colleagues to join existing, externally funded research and training activities and obtain new sponsored research. Two Ed.D.s are also offered in educational leadership and curriculum and instruction with several specialization areas. With 14 full-time faculty members in four program areas, we operate collegially as we explore and support each other in early childhood education, school psychology, educational assessment, and special education in the southern frontera regions of the US. We provide our students with dynamic place-based and online instruction and value extensive field-based experiences.Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold an earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in special education or a closely related field with at least 18 hours of graduate work in special education. If transcripts do not reveal this focus, candidates may explain how the courses taken address these fields in their cover letters.

Candidates should demonstrate the potential to organize, implement, and sustain a research agenda in special education or a closely related field that meets the standards for excellence in education research as defined by the US Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences.

Candidates must be capable of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in person and online.

Candidates must show productivity or potential to acquire research grants from Private, State, and/or Federal sponsors.

ABD candidates must have their doctoral degrees conferred by the time of hire.

As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
