Loan Officer
As a Loan Officer at Windthorst Federal Credit Union, you will play a key role in helping members achieve their financial goals through responsible lending solutions. You will assist members throughout the loan process — from application to funding — while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for helping others within our community.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Origination & Processing
Assist members with consumer loan applications, including personal, auto, and other secured/unsecured loans
Gather and verify all required documentation for loan approval and funding
Evaluate applicant creditworthiness by reviewing credit reports, income, and debt information
Input loan data into the loan origination system accurately and completely
Ensure all loan documents are signed, dated, and filed in compliance with internal and regulatory requirements
Maintain communication with members throughout the loan process to provide updates and guidance
Member Service & Relationship Building
Deliver friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service at all times
Educate members about credit union loan products, terms, and repayment options
Identify opportunities to offer additional products or services that support members’ financial needs
Promote the credit union’s mission of putting people before profits and strengthening our community relationships
Compliance & Reporting
Adhere to all credit union lending policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations
Maintain confidentiality of member information and financial records
Prepare accurate reports and maintain records for internal and external audits
Ensure loan files are complete and compliant before submission or funding
Team & Administrative Support
Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless member experience
Participate in ongoing training to stay current on loan policies, systems, and compliance standards
Support the branch team with member inquiries or account assistance as needed
Contribute to a positive, cooperative, and mission-driven workplace culture
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred
Previous experience in consumer lending, credit analysis, or retail banking preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with accuracy under deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and loan origination software
