Our Core Tax Services (https://www.cbh.com/services/tax/) team is seeking a Tax Manager with insurance industry experience in any of our markets.The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the insurance industry, tax accounting, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership and problem-solving abilities to oversee the preparation and review of complex tax returns, tax provisions, and related compliance matters. The successful candidate will manage the client’s tax compliance needs, anticipate tax and business issues, and recognize tax planning opportunities. Candidates should be accustomed to working as the main point of contact with the client and will be comfortable in managing workflows, deadlines, deliverables, and client communications. This role will also be responsible for training and developing less experienced professional staff.As a Tax Manager, you will:
Oversee the preparation and review of Form 1120-PC (U.S. Property and Casualty Insurance Company Income Tax Returns) and Form 1120-L (U.S. Life Insurance Company Income Tax Returns)
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
Manage tax provision calculations and analysis, including the application of SSAP No. 101 and ASC 740
Coordinate with internal and external auditors on tax-related matters
Research and analyze complex tax issues
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency
Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
What you bring to the role:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or ability to obtain the CPA
Minimum of 4+ years of experience in insurance tax compliance
In-depth knowledge of Form 1120-PC and 1120-L
Strong understanding of insurance statutory accounting principles and NAIC annual statement filings
Expertise in the differences between statutory and taxable income for insurance companies
Experience with C-corporation consolidated returns, preferably including life/non-life mixed groups
Proven ability to manage complex tax projects and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Leadership and team management experience
