Key Responsibilities
Daily Living Support:
Assist with personal care routines (e.g., grooming, hygiene, dressing) as needed while promoting independence and dignity.
Support with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and organization of personal spaces.
Administer or assist with medications as directed.
Behavioral & Emotional Support:
Provide a calm, structured, and supportive environment tailored to the individual’s sensory and communication needs.
Use positive reinforcement and established behavioral strategies to support emotional regulation.
Recognize signs of distress or overstimulation and implement appropriate calming techniques.
Social & Community Engagement:
Accompany the individual to appointments, community activities, classes, or social events.
Encourage skill-building activities that foster independence, self-advocacy, and social interaction.
Support communication using preferred methods (e.g., verbal, AAC devices, written prompts).
Routine & Safety:
Maintain and follow daily routines consistently to provide stability.
Ensure a safe environment, both at home and during outings, by identifying and mitigating potential risks.
Record daily activities, behaviors, and any incidents to communicate effectively with family members or support teams.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities (required).
Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to follow structured care plans while adapting to evolving needs.
