Seeking experienced seamstress to assist a local small apparel designer Sandmaiden Sleepwear.
Candidate must have experience operating an overlocker/serger and some experience sewing with stretch textiles. Commercial production experience is a bonus.
Other duties may include shipping orders, cutting and workshop tasks.
This is a permanent position that requires 3 months of training in specific techniques. Offering training to someone who is looking for a permanent job in production and shows an aptitude for apparel construction, is tidy, responsible and likes to work independently.
Hours are Monday to Friday from 10:30-5pm.
Compensation is $20 per hour (depending on experience) for the first three months of training and then should be going up to $25 per hour (depending on performance). A craftsperson who has developed the skills I show you can easily achieve good results by approaching her work at a slow and steady pace.
We offer up to 3 weeks paid time off and a bright work environment with lots of natural light in our home on South Hill in Bellingham.
This position starts when we find the right person who is talented, responsible, loves working with their hands, loves fashion and textiles and is excited to learn from my experience as you will be working directly with the owner/designer.
