Whether a hospital, integrated delivery network, lab, surgery center or pharmacy, we’re here to help take greater control over healthcare shipping, freight management and logistics management strategy with our dynamic approach of tailored solutions, committed experts and innovation and insights.The Director, Business Development - OptiFreight will be a hands-on individual contributor which provides thought leadership, direction, and expertise in the development and execution of business strategies to maximize program value and improve customer satisfaction. This individual is responsible for researching, evaluating, and recommending new service, channel, and/or carrier expansion opportunities in alignment with business strategies and customer needs. This individual continuously identifies and cultivates innovative supply chain management solutions for the healthcare market and collaborates with other cross functional teams to assess strategic fit, technical feasibility, and organizational alignment.Responsibilities
Analyzes market research and keeps pace with trends and emerging innovations within the healthcare as well as the broader supply chain/logistics industry
Utilizes market trends, customer need assessments, and competitive positioning to develop recommendations on new product and/or channel expansion opportunities that deliver increased value for the business and our customers
Define the business dynamics necessary to consider portfolio expansion including market size, barriers to entry, differentiated value, organizational readiness, and existing portfolio alignment. etc.
Translate market and customer needs into clearly defined goals, objectives, and recommendations to inform future business strategies and longer-term investment alternatives
Develops and owns OptiFreight’s Business Development vision and strategy, in collaboration with upstream and downstream Product Management and other business leaders
Builds and maintains relationships across Cardinal Health to identify mutually beneficial synergy opportunities
Vets internal and external strategic partnership opportunities that could solve or enhance an existing business need, accelerate growth, and/or increase our ease of doing business
Negotiates complex commercial business relationships on behalf of the company, including the development of non-standard commercial agreements (in conjunction with Legal)
Utilizes strong financial acumen, analytical skills, and sound thought processes to develop business case recommendations to gain executive support and secure required investments
Collaborates with enterprise Strategy and Corporate Development teams to define merger, acquisition, and/or strategic alliance strategies consistent with defined business objectives
Accountable for gaining and driving cross-functional support and engagement from all stakeholders
Qualifications
7+ years of related work experience in healthcare, consulting, strategy, business development, R&D, and/or supply chain, logistics strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including senior leadership
Demonstrated experience in performing market research as well as using voice of customer, benchmarking, and market insights to develop commercial strategies to influence long range product development roadmaps
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, leadership, and organizational skills.
Results driven, proven ability to perform and to take initiative without direct oversight and to work independently in a fast paced, evolving environment
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
Strong analytical and financial acumen
Ability to travel domestically when required (minimal)
Anticipated base salary range: $114,700 - $185,000
The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographical location, relevant education, experience and skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
