This Research Scientist 2 position will support research project exploring the mechanisms underlying toxicity of yeast prios.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform research in protein folding, focused on the conformational transitions of prions proteins in yeast and their cellular regulation. 70%

Perform routine and help develop new techniques in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and genetics.

Perform routine and shared tasks to support the functioning of the lab as needed, including reagent and glassware prep, lab organization, inventory, etc.

Presenting results at scientific conferences. 10%

Writing results for publication in international journals.

Train undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers in laboratory techniques 15%

Providing research training for HS students. 5%MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry and two years of relevant experience, OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Competence in standard protein biochemistry techniques (extraction, gel electrophoretic analyses, stability assays, etc)

Competence in standard molecular biology techniques (recombinant DNA, PCR, fluorescence microscopy, etc)

Competence in data and standard statistical analyses

Excellent organizational/record-keeping skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Competence with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud

Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature

Self-motivationDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience with yeast
