Teammates in the role are also eligible for Nucor Steel profit sharing which has averaged21%over last 5 Years,2023 profit sharing amount was 31.5%.This position is eligible for comprehensive Nucor benefits including annual bonuses, tuition assistance, employee stock purchase program discount and match, 401(k) match, service awards, paid time off, and profit sharing.Basic Job Functions:The role of the Safety Director includes providing leadership and support to the Safety & Health functions across the Division and Safety Region. This role acts as the director of the Safety Coordinator.The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Growing long term, sustainable relationships to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems.
Supervise, support, and develop team of safety professionals.
Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor's Challenge of "Becoming the World's Safest Steel Company."
Interpret and practically apply regulatory and consensus standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.}
Provide accessible and engaging expert safety and health advice.
Build and facilitate effective Safety & Health processes, management systems, and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention.
Conduct safety visits, audits, and observations.
Manage the site occupational health and industrial hygiene program and record keeping.
Oversee and coordinate site safety and contractor management program.
