Hourly range is $22.08 – 24.07.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4 10 hour shifts.

Job description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the recovery of human eye tissue for transplant and/or research and the collection of necessary medical, behavioral, laboratory, and other data to ensure quality donor screening. Also has primary responsibility for routine laboratory maintenance. In addition, position will provide support for referral coordination, chart processing, distribution, and hospital services as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs efficient and quality surgical recovery of human eye tissue for transplant and/or research.

Collects complete and accurate medical charts, behavioral data, laboratory data and other pertinent data from the recovery site and other appropriate agencies.

Maintains all scheduled and incidental laboratory maintenance.

Performs laboratory functions related to donor screening and tissue evaluation.

Follows daily direction of the leadership in supporting staff with donor operations, recoveries, and chart processing.

Follows direction of the leadership in training of new technicians, quality assurance checks, and policy revisions.

Follows direction of the Clinical Operations staff and Donor Services in supporting tissue distribution and hospital development as needed.

Performs scheduled donor recovery/coordination as required.

In all daily activities, strive to support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Lions World Vision Institute.

Ensure all applicable FDA, EBAA, Lions World Vision Institute and state regulatory policies are followed.

Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all Eye Bank, hospital, and peer agency staff.

Ability to work days, nights, weekends and long hours when needed.

Able to interpret and follow verbal and written direction.

A personal commitment to organ and tissue donation required.

All Lions World Vision Institute staff are expected to be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook or their equivalents at a functional level.

Understanding and adherence to Lions World Vision Institute's safety, regulatory and confidentiality guidelines.

Qualified applicants must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver's license, and be eligible to meet our company driving standards.

Lifting; Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally. Occasionally, the employee must lift and move up to 80 lbs.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Relevant educational or work experience with Bachelor’s degree in science or medical field preferred.

0-2 years of experience as an eye bank technician or similar field.

Work Environment

The work is performed primarily in a hospital/morgue environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
