Job Summary

Under limited supervision, assists the HR department in performing a variety of support and clerical duties in employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training, and related areas. Prepares reports, maintains records, and compiles personnel documents. Works on special projects as directed. Assignments generally involve work of a highly confidential nature.

Essential Functions

· Coordinates recruitment processes for CCCU departments as needed (posts jobs, reviews applications, interviews, processes background checks, etc.).

· Assists department with leaves of absence administration, payroll processes, training, benefits, performance management, and other HR functions and programs in accordance with applicable Federal and State rules, laws, and regulations.

· Prepares, maintains, and processes personnel files, records, forms, and documents in a timely and accurate manner.

· With courtesy, professionalism, and tact, provides information, clarification, and guidance concerning personnel policies, procedures, and benefits to staff and management.

· Utilizing HR databases, prepares and distributes reports.

· Conducts and/or coordinates a variety of employment-related training programs.

· Assists with managing incoming communication to the HR department including the department email, phone line, and mail.

· Assists in the planning, coordinating, and implementing of employee events such as the holiday party and employee picnic.

· Travels to all CCCU Member Service Branches and departments on a regular basis for visits

or other personnel matters as needed.

· Supports management and employees during business hours with all personnel needs.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· As a direct contact person working closely with all levels of personnel, applicants, and outside vendors, must demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with tact and professionalism.

· Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, and technologically savvy with the ability to learn new software applications, such as payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar applications.

· Strong attention to detail, as well as organizational, time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

· Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, including the use of standard office equipment, basic record-keeping, arithmetic, and computer applications related to the work.

· Knowledge of pertinent Federal and State laws, rules, regulations, and policies and procedures as they apply to the area(s) of responsibility.

· Ability to interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with personnel rules and regulations, Federal and State laws, and policies and procedures related to the work.

· Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.

· Ability to understand complex written and verbal communications and respond with professionalism and tact by phone, in person, and/or in written format.

· With accuracy and attention to detail, enter data using the keyboard and computer terminal to develop documents, prepare correspondence, and maintain personnel and time records, etc.

· Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.

· Ability to exercise discretion and tact in processing documents and information of a confidential or sensitive nature in a variety of program areas, including benefits, payroll administration, and compensation.

· Actively practices the behaviors required by the credit union’s guidelines for Standards of Excellence in all interactions with members and staff.

Education and Experience

· High school graduate or equivalent.

· Experience in personnel and benefits administration, employment law, employment training, and interviewing preferred.

· Three years of clerical and/or general office experience required.

Additional Requirements

· Incumbent must be bondable.

· Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to travel to all credit union locations as needed.

Physical Demands

This is a moderately sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas is required. Individual(s) in this class must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; visual acuity to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator at a reasonable speed, and to operate standard office equipment. Person(s) in this classification occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, reaches, climbs, and walks; and pushes and pulls drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Works in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
