Farley Pavers, Southern California’s premier interlocking paver installer, is seeking a Certified Brick Layer who has successfully completed an apprenticeship program specific to interlocking concrete pavers and holds recognized industry certifications (ICPI or equivalent).

POSITION: Certified Interlocking Paver Installer & Brick Layer

REQUIREMENTS:

- Completion of a Bricklayer or Masonry Apprenticeship Program (Laborers, Masonry, or other state-recognized apprenticeship

pathway)

- ICPI / Paver Installer Certification or equivalent credential

- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience installing interlocking concrete pavers

- Technology experience with Outlook 365 Email and Teams; and Apple iPad

- Sub-grade preparation

- Bed & joint sand standards

- Edge restraints

- Paver cutting, laying, and compaction procedures

- Industry standards (ASTM C936, C33, etc.)

- Ability to read plans and follow site specifications

- Knowledge of all OSHA, Silica, and safety compliance procedures

- Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites across Southern California

- Skid Steer Certified

- Compactor & Roller Experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Preparation: Excavate and grade the ground, mark layouts with stakes and string lines, and ensure proper slopes for

drainage.

Base and Bedding Layer: Spread and compact the gravel base and spread and level the bedding sand layer.

Paver Installation: Lay pavers according to the design pattern, ensuring consistent spacing and alignment, and make

adjustments with pry bars as you go.

Cutting and Fitting: Cut pavers as needed to fit edges and curves using a masonry saw or splitter.

Compaction: Compact the pavers with a plate compactor to seat them into the bedding sand.

Finishing: Fill the joints with aggregate, sweep the surface clean, and perform a final compaction.

Quality Control: Check final elevations with a straightedge to ensure they are within specifications and that there are no lips

between adjacent pavers.

Maintenance: Replace broken or stained pavers and perform other maintenance tasks as needed.

Team and client Communication: Communicate with team members about the work plan and any issues and communicate

with clients about project progress.

Engineering Plans: Read and interpret site plans, elevations, and layout drawings

Equipment Operation: Operate skid steer; rollers and compactors

OSHA Compliance: Follow all labor and safety compliance standards

Training: Assist with training apprentices or tenders when required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience on commercial jobs (McCarthy, Swinerton, Jamboree, UCSD, etc.)

- Additional certifications: OSHA-30, Silica Competent, CPR/First Aid

- Equipment experience: saws, compactors, skid steer, forklifts
