IHSS providers in Berkeley, providing personal care and overnight ‘sleeping’ shifts for 58 year old quadriplegic (spinal cord injury). Previous experience with personal care helpful, but not required. All training is provided with pay. Current rate of pay is $20/hour, but as of December 1 it will be $21.20 and on January 1 it will be $21.70. Health benefits are available to those working at least 80 hours a month. If you’re not already enrolled in IHSS, I will help you through the process.
Morning shifts involve multiple transfers using Hoyer lift, bathing, dressing, grooming, range of motion, feeding breakfast and lunch (food is typically prepared in advance). Afternoon shifts are typically laundry, a run to the grocery store a block away, helping with emails or other clerical tasks, Hoyer lift transfer and feeding dinner. Evening routine involves assistance with toileting, which will be explained in detail during interview. Overnight shifts require a soft sleeper who doesn’t snore or move around a lot, who will wake up once or twice a night for repositioning, and be on standby for any emergency that could arise. Ideal candidates will cross train for all shifts and have some flexibility. Likewise, we understand that things come up on the weekends and you may need to take a shift off once in awhile. We try to accommodate all requests for time off.
We are currently hiring two people. Please indicate which of these positions you are available for:
Saturday evening and overnight (6:30pm Saturday to 8am Sunday) and Tuesday and Thursday overnights (10:30pm to 8am Wed/Fri)
Saturday morning and afternoon shifts (8:30am to 6:30pm) and Sunday morning 8:30am - 1pm
More shifts may be available in the near future, and holiday shifts are open as well, with incentives.
