Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.ResponsibilitiesClinical Skills and Knowledge:As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the nurse in this role will provide nursing care to patients and families in the Pediatric Otolaryngology clinicThe RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to assess and meet the needs of the patient and family; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care; teaches patients and caregivers; orients colleagues and peers; and provides support to the pediatric clinic team including other members of the multidisciplinary teamIndependently and completely performs focused assessment to provide the most effective patient care to this patient populationEvaluate, screen and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resourcesTelephone triage will include: triage calls from patients/families (including Red Calls, symptom calls, follow up), clinicians and other healthcare team members. Portal messaging, encounter follow-up will also be included. Following up on test results.Responsible for assisting in face-to-face clinic, as neededPatient education including on medication, related side effects, surgical procedures, new patient diagnosesAccurately assesses patient's/family's readiness to learn, organizes and executes individualized teaching plan, evaluates patient and families? understanding and modifies approach as necessaryDevelop and maintain collaborative relationships with all team members to improve patient outcomes. Active participation in quality improvement initiativesCandidate must be able to function with minimal supervision and be highly motivated to provide excellent care and patient advocacyDemonstrates ease in application of hospital policies and unit procedures and protocols.
