JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Penn State Climate Consortium and the Penn State Center for Energy Law and Policy invite applications for a non-tenure line faculty position in the field of climate policy to be filled at the rank of Associate Research Professor. We seek an innovative and creative colleague who will support Penn State’s Climate Consortium through translation of interdisciplinary climate change research into relevant policy at local, regional, national, or global scales.This position will also support the RTO Governance Research Network (under the Center for Energy Law and Policy) through research and stakeholder engagement related to clean electricity policy at regional or national scales. Areas of expertise may include regional and national electrification and grid resilience, regional or national electricity policy with a focus on Regional Transmission Organizations or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issues, clean energy infrastructure permitting, carbon dioxide capture and storage, methane abatement, natural carbon sequestration, or climate justice, although strong candidates in other areas are encouraged to apply.Successful candidates will be expected to advance projects within the Climate Solutions Accelerator program of the Penn State Climate Consortium, and work with the RTO Governance network director to advance research and policy engagement, as well as contribute to their own research program.This position is funded for two years from the date of hire, with excellent chances of renewal. Education and Experience: Evidence of completion of a Ph.D. in a relevant field and/or Juris Doctor (J.D.) by the date of hire is required.Desirable experience includes a proven record of writing and communicating policy in written and oral forms, for example, in policy white papers or peer-reviewed publications; advanced knowledge of climate-related policy issues, experience in translating policy to practice and engagement, or working with local municipalities, or state and federal legislators.Application: To be considered for this position, applicants should upload a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, and contact information for three professional references.
