AECOM has a position available for a Civil/Structural Designer to support our growing Energy Practice.AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States.Our team provides a wide range of civil and structural engineering services across markets sectors including electrical transmission and distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), industrial process (Oil & Gas, petrochemical), building decarbonization and next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, carbon capture, etc.).  We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to develop within and further the technical skills we bring to our new and existing client base.Qualified candidates will have a strong competency in civil and structural design aspects for heavy industrial clients.The successful candidate will have an understanding and experience in civil and structural design and principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done with an excellent attention to detail.The responsibilities of this role also include, but may not be limited to, the following:Ability to perform as the lead civil/structural designer utilizing direction and sketches from engineers to develop construction package drawings and lead supporting design/drafting team members in the package developmentDay to day design and preparation of civil and structural deliverables to achieve efficient facility design considering constructability, safety and costSite general arrangements, location plans, elevations, sections and detailsPrepare bills of materials and quantity take offsEmploy a variety of data sources to build project model environment including but not limited to laser scan, vendor files, existing base surfaces from LiDAR, survey points and contoursDetailed understanding of coordinate systems and the ability to transform data from one system to anotherData management (e.g. vendor data, client data) through the project life cyclePerforms both routine and non-routine, complex design assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendationsMaintain open communication with project team (including remote staff) regarding workload planning, task estimating and budgetingContributes to a complete and integrated set of digital project content which includes but not limited to identification of discipline and vendor interfaces, clashes, etc. by working co-operatively with team members to resolve issuesAssist with preparation of project specification and contract documentsApplies strong knowledge of industry standards, guides, specifications, and procedures specific to working in with US industrial and power generation facilitiesEnsure that the technical and safety standards are maintained in all aspects of design workReview and check work prepared by peers/groupCollaborate effectively with US and international design staff to create quality deliverables
