Whatcom Community College welcomes applications for a Program Coordinator (Class Code 107N) position in the College's Financial Aid office. This position reports to the Director for Financial Aid. The Program Coordinator guides students through the financial aid application process and answers questions regarding their aid eligibility and awards. The Program Coordinator receives extensive, on-going training in financial aid requirements and processes, so they can serve as a financial aid content expert in WCC's Orca Central student services hub.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

-Program Coordination providing high level customer service and enhanced communication.

-Communication of in-depth technical financial aid information and respond to complex inquiries.

-Coordinate financial aid student centered support functions while maintaining regulatory compliance to students and prospective students via front counter, email, and phone.

-Oversee and train work study students to answer financial aid questions, review forms and information, track data using specialized software, and perform multiple office support functions.

-Create, update and edit forms that are clear and accessible.

-Coordinate file review and follow up, awarding and transfer monitoring.

-Assists the Director of Financial Aid and special funding program personnel.

-Maintain and update information on financial aid web pages.

-Maintain inventory and oversee file management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-High School graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience working in higher education, OR education and experience equivalent to two years of working in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Ability to interpret and explain complex regulations and processes.

-Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.

-Prior financial aid experience.

-Experience providing customer support in a fast-paced front counter environment.

-Experience working with, and explaining, federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures to individuals and groups.

-Develops innovative ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges and brings the ideas to the supervisor.

-Experience working in the community college environment.

-Experience developing clear and ADA accessible forms and documents.

-Earns the trust, respect, and confidence of coworkers and the public through consistent honesty, forthrightness and professionalism in all interactions.

-Actively contributes to a work environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the attainment of organizational goals.

Salary:

-Range 40, full-time Classified salary starting at range of Step C $3,643.00 per month to Step H $4,093.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,517.00 per month.

Benefit Package:

-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 9.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.
