Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Program Coordinator (Class Code 107N) position in the College's student welcome center, Orca Central. This position reports to the Associate Director of Orca Central Operations. The Program Coordinator will support critical operations of the Orca Central student welcome center including, Advising, Financial Aid, TRIO & Student Support Services, Transitional Learning programs, and Running Start.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

-Serve as an initial and primary point of contact at the Orca Central frontdesk with excellent customer service.

-Handle inbound and outbound communication related to Orca Central to provide accurate information about all college programs and make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources.

-Assist with onboarding of new students.

-Answer basic questions for students regarding their enrollment status, financial aid status, and other student record concerns.

-Maintain and update student information as necessary, using tools such as ctcLink, Starfish, and Microsoft Suite.

-Support Outreach by helping with campus tours,organizing, and leading tours as needed.

-Design and produce accessible word processing documents and publications for office use, mailings, and distribution to campus community.

-Support Associate Director with tracking and ordering supplies as needed.

-Support Associate Director with editing /monitoring Orca Central-related web pages.

-Participate in on and off campus training and professional development.

-Support departments on campus who have representation in Orca Central such as Advising, Financial Aid, and TRIO & -Student Support Services. This includes, coordinating appointments, managing in person and virtual drop-in advising, and providing relevant and timely information for general questions.

-Provide information about Transitional Learning, ESOL, Adult Basic Education, High School Completion, and General Education Development. Support application completion and share with Transitional Learning Team.

-Other duties as assigned and appropriate, as determined by AD of Orca Central.

Minimum Qualifications:

-High school graduate or equivalent AND two years of experience in education or related area or equivalent combination of education and experience.

-Proficient in MS Word, Excel,Outlook. Ability to learn new software and programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Bilingual (Spanish preferred).

-Associate's degree.

-Experience working with diverse populations and the ability to actively contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity.

-Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.

-Ability to work independently and accomplish program goals and deadlines with minimal supervision.

-Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals and groups.

-Ability to develop innovative ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges and bring new ideas to supervisor.

-Ability to independently analyze complex problems and judge best solution or action to resolve or respond to difficult situations.

-Experience with facilitating groups and public speaking.

Salary:

-Range 40, full-time Classified salary starting at Step C $3,643.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,517.00 per month.

Benefit Package:

-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 9.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.
