We’re growing fast and seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to drive production, safety, quality, and team performance.
Purpose of the Role
The Plant Manager will oversee all daily fabrication and assembly operations: welding, plumbing, electrical, and finishing, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role is responsible for meeting performance goals in safety, quality, delivery, and cost while maintaining Elk Creek’s commitment to craftsmanship and operational excellence. This is a fully hands-on leadership role, the Plant Manager is expected to be physically present on the shop floor each day, actively overseeing production, assisting teams, and ensuring that work meets Elk Creek’s quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Plant Manager must have a strong understanding of manufacturing and fabrication, with an emphasis on effective people management and production oversight. This role requires a hands-on leader who can prioritize, delegate, and ensure smooth coordination across all departments. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate Production: Plan and prioritize daily work schedules, balancing shop capacity with project deadlines and cross-department communication.
Manage Staff: Hire, lead and develop a skilled team of welders, plumbers, electricians, and finishers; assign tasks, provide feedback, and hold team members accountable for productivity and professionalism.
Foster Team Culture and Engagement: Promote teamwork, accountability, and pride in craftsmanship by modeling professionalism, respect, and a strong work ethic.
Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce OSHA and company safety policies to maintain a safe, hazard-free work environment; conduct daily safety walk-throughs and huddles.
Customer Service: Serve as the main point of contact for customers during active and upcoming trailer production
Reporting & Communication: Track key performance metrics (safety, quality, delivery, cost), communicate updates weekly to the owner, and raise challenges proactively.
Other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the operation.
Qualifications
5–7+ years of experience in plant management, manufacturing, or operations.
2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
Strong background in welding, metal fabrication, plumbing, or electrical work a major plus.
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and manufacturing best practices preferred.
Proven ability to coordinate teams, manage workflows, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer use.
Hands-on leader capable of training, motivating, and modeling professionalism.
