Position Title: Computer Operator V/Technical Support SpecialistClearance Level: SecretCompliance: DOD 8140 CompliantLocation: Fort JohnsonPosition Type: Full-TimePosition Overview: The Computer Operator V/Technical Support Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing the operations of complex computer systems and networks. The role involves providing high-level technical support, ensuring system availability, and maintaining operational efficiency. This position requires in-depth knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity protocols, and adherence to Department of Defense (DOD) standards, specifically under the DCWF 411 code.Key Responsibilities:

System Management:

Operate and monitor complex computer systems, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.

Perform routine system maintenance, including backups, updates, and patch management.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.

Technical Support:

Provide advanced technical support to users, addressing and resolving escalated issues.

Assist in the deployment, configuration, and testing of new hardware and software.

Document and communicate solutions to recurring issues to improve system reliability.

Security and Compliance:

Implement and enforce security policies in accordance with DOD 8140 guidelines.

Monitor system security, identifying and mitigating potential threats.

Ensure all systems comply with relevant security protocols and maintain the required clearance levels.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with other IT professionals, including network administrators, security analysts, and system engineers.

Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical users.

Prepare and maintain detailed reports on system performance and support activities.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain compliance with DOD 8140 requirements.

Proactively suggest and implement improvements to optimize system performance and reliability.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Experience:

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in computer operations, technical support, or a related role.

Experience with DOD systems and adherence to DOD 8140 requirements is highly desirable.

Certifications:

Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, or equivalent) are required.

DOD 8140 compliant certifications are mandatory.

Skills:

Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and cybersecurity principles.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.

Security Clearance:

Must possess and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Work Environment:

This position may require shift work to ensure 24/7 system operation and support.
