Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity in the Wholesale Distribution industry based in Houston, Texas, for an Accounts Payable Specialist. The role involves the effective management of customer credit applications, maintaining precise customer records, and addressing customer inquiries. Moreover, the role includes the important task of monitoring customer accounts and taking the necessary actions.Responsibilities Ensure efficient and accurate processing of customer credit applications. Maintain precise records related to customer credit. Handle and resolve customer inquiries in a timely manner. Manage vendor relationships effectively. Carry out journal entries as part of the daily routine. Perform accounts payable reconciliations to maintain accurate account balances. Ensure proper processing of purchase order and non-purchase order invoices. Utilize accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning tools to streamline processes. Regularly monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary. Ensure account coding is carried out accurately to avoid discrepancies. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounts Payable role within the Wholesale Distribution industry Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems Extensive knowledge and experience in Accounts Payable (AP) processes Proven ability to manage vendor relationships effectively Experience with account coding procedures Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain journal entries Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
