Dr. Caroline Chung leads an imaging computational laboratory within the department of Radiation Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Chung Lab's major research focus is to develop quantitative imaging pipelines and predictive tools to be used in:-Tumor response assessment,-Treatment-related toxicity, and-Personalization of radiotherapy and multimodal treatment.In addition, the lab is working on the standardization of collection and nomenclature of images to facilitate meaningful measurement and interpretation of imaging biomarkers across departments and institutions to support efforts aligned with the Institute for Data Science in Oncology (IDSO).Quantitative imaging research is a key component to enabling and guiding personalized oncological patient care. The Chung Lab has an additional role in supporting the Tumor Measurement Initiative (TMI), which aims to build an institutional platform to support standardized, automated, quantitative imaging-based tumor measurement across each patient's journey to advance multidisciplinary, data-driven, high-precision cancer treatment.LEARNING OBJECTIVESThe appointee will learn how to quantitatively interrogate Magnetic Resonance images (MRI) of the brain in the context of different research projects. The appointee will take part in a number of ongoing projects in the Chung lab and learn how to extract metrics from the images. The appointee will gain valuable (and highly transferable) experience in cleaning and curating data, as well as in recognizing and contouring brain tumors in real clinical MR images of the human brain.ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Applicant must hold a bachelor's or master's degree. Degree must have been obtained recently (within 1 year) Applicant must have previous research experience in the field of computational imaging or neuro-oncology.POSITION INFORMATIONThis position (full-time or part-time) provides a stipend between $28,000 and $36,000.FACULTY MENTORCaroline Chung, MD
